New Year’s Day at the Dolls House

The holidays are almost over now. The Sindy Set have gone home and Tammy’s Mom has taken down the tree. She wanted to get some photos of the girls at the start of the new year. The girls were happy to oblige as a couple of them had new clothes to show off.

Ideal Tammy, my American Tammy, has a new dress. It reminds me very much of the kind of dresses we used to have for our dolls. This one is tagged St Marks which means it is probably of British origin. I’m not sure if St Marks was a Marks & Spencer brand in the 60’s but it sounds like it. The dress is a very pale pink and I think it looks very nice on her.

Her Canadian cousin Reliable Tammy has a new blouse, blue and white check with a floral pattern and a big white Peter Pan collar and cuffs. This is another untagged piece. She has borrowed Ideal Tammy’s pinafore dress to wear it with. That is a genuine Tammy outfit.

My English Tammy was quite happy with what she was already wearing. Mom called all three girls together for a family photo after that. I have always wondered whether my English Tammy is rare as I’ve never seen another like her with the fair skin and softer facial colouring. I wonder if all the Tammy’s sold in England were made that way to appeal to a different market. My Tammy and Sindy are almost the same age so Tammy was probably being sold concurrently with Sindy in England at least for a while. Sindy of course was based on Tammy with the blessing of the Ideal Toy Company.

There is a strong family resemblence between Tammy and her Mom.

My plan for the Tammy’s this year apart from buying them some doll stands is to do something with their hair. I’ve never touched American or Canadian Tammy’s hair because it is in good shape and has still got plenty of curl but there are a lot of stray bits so maybe a shampoo and set would not go astray. I might have to get Marissa on the job. The Pepper’s and Dodi could use some new clothes too but at the moment they are having too much fun upstairs playing  to come down.

  1. I like the pale pink dress the best. It reminds me of a pale pink dress I wore in my young- woman-professional days. It was work to iron it but worth it. Lovely.

  2. I adore the eyes on the mom doll. They are lovely. It is also really cool how you have three different versions of thr Tammy doll. Are there any big differences between them?
