Meet Bernice

Recently my friend Allyson asked me if I would be interested in having a doll that she no longer wanted. She explained that the doll had been given to her when she was much younger and while she did not want to keep her she wanted her to go to a good home so she thought of me.

I said that I’d be happy to adopt so Bernice has come to live with me and will shortly be settled in to the TV unit where the other porcelain dolls live.

Copperart doll- Lyn
She still has her hat!

Bernice still has her original tag which says “Copperart” and “Made in China” so I know she came from a popular chain of gift stores by that name. Allyson is a lot younger than I am so I am guessing that the doll is probably from the 1990’s. The Copperart stores changed their name to Homeart in 2001. The swing tag gives the doll’s name as Lyn but Allyson’s grandma  who gave her the doll was Bernice so that will be her name. She has a porcelain head and limbs and a cloth body. She has been well taken care of and has her original outfit. Even her hat!

Bernice is settled into her new home with the other well-dressed dolls.
